Summary:
The present work constitutes an approach to the present forms of mediation with the
political space developed by evangelical actors inArgentina. We will center our analysis in three events that took place in 2008: the public controversy generated by the visit of Luis Palau in the month of March, the uprisings of churches and evangelical federations with regard to the conflict between the national government and the agrarian organizations, and the launching of the Front of People, as political current aligned with the party of government. We consider that these events, given their “symbolic density”, are propitious to give account of the multifaceted incursion in politics by evangelical actors, in a
continuum that comprises from uprisings on the part of institutionalized voices that bet to settle in the national political scene, to the emergency of evangelical politicians who individually affiliate themselves with political parties so as to strengthen evangelic presence within power spaces. The conclusions of the present study are oriented to establish the level of incidence of the reconfiguration of the religious space in the dynamic and the own processes of the political field.Key words: evangelical, political, institutionalization, autonomy, public space.
